questionnaire for riot grrls & boyz II
1. Why riot grrl? - cause riot grrl enlightened me and gave me some meaning to live (no really!)
2. How did you hear about riot grrl? - I got some music by bikini kill from my friend Marli and immediately fell in love with them. Then I researched on the internet.
3. Don't you think riot grrl is too old to be mentioned? - No, 'cause it still has a meaning to a lot of girls
4. Would you call yourself a feminist? - Yeah. but I sometimes hate to call myself a feminist cause it's such a complicated thing and sometimes I feel as if I had to justify myself all the time.
5. Why? - 'cause I am a woman and identify much with certain women and cause riot grrl showed me to have self esteem and to love myself and a lot of girls out there don't have self esteem or love themselves cause society subtly tells them that they are second class citizens and the media does, by the fashion industry, by humiliating porn and stuff and I hate this and wanna help those girls cause I am one of them.
6. What's your favourite wave of feminism? 1st? 2nd? 3rd? Any Utopia wave of feminism that's about to come? (And maybe you will initiate?) - 3rd!! but I think all 3 are cool and the other two have achieved more I think.
7. Are you active in terms of feminism? How? - Not really, but I'm thinking a lot on it and sometimes I even read/write about it, although writing about it is not so easy and I often don't know how to and then some shit comes out of it.
8. Would you call yourself queer? - Yeah! I am not male or female, I am queer.
9. What does "queer" mean to you? - not fitting into male-female categories, not wanting a binary world but a world full of colours => therefore not only gays and lesbians or bi, but also people full of colour – for example punks or something, who are different and more creative and who aren't like others.
10. What are the things that suck in the world? - a lot! e.g. war, abused power (concerning the state, society and interpersonal relationships) and people starving and freezing
11. Have you experienced sexual harassment or worse? - a bit - yeah.
12. What do you think about abortion? - I think abortion is not a nice thing, cause if the foetus can feel, it must be horror to be aborted, BUT I think the state/society has NO RIGHT to dictate the belly and life of a woman.
13. What do you think about "the private is political"? - I love it, cause it means that every wo/man, girl/boy has a voice and it expands the term of "politics" - it's not only the things politicians do, but it begins at home.
14. Do you know about Queer Theory? - yeah
15. Do you think you're a "woman" or a "man" or can you even categorize yourself? - no I can't really
16. What's feminism to you? - a good thing that is often wrongly judged
17. What's your Utopia of the relation of the sexes? - That's a difficult thing. I think that it doesn't matter AT ALL if you're a boy or girl, but probably that's not possible in all aspects of life ...
18. Do you think there are only two sexes? - I think if we wouldn't see the world in categories so much we could perceive every person of its own and maybe say that every person has his/her own sex, but that's difficult and maybe impossible.

21. Can you observe and mention some examples of fe-/male socialization in your everyday life? - yeah. um ... - I perceive girls to be shier sometimes and not to unfold their personality so much. I often hear sexist jokes. I mostly see women (our parents' generation) cleaning and stuff. I hated when they said to my girl-drummer-friend that she "plays the drums well FOR A GIRL" and stuff.

- Ich wende sie manchmal an, komme aber nicht ganz damit zurecht, weil ich nie weiß wie ichs aussprechen soll. Ich find sie gut, seehr gut, aber nicht zu übertreiben. Mich zipft es an, dass alle so angezipft sind von ihr.)
